Service Description

As a new client, you will be asked to complete a New Patient form outlining details of your recent medical history, a description of the area of pain/discomfort/injury and any other past injuries or ailments. You will also receive an appropriate treatment during the initial consultation and further care and appointments (if necessary), will be discussed and agreed. Depending on the reason for your visit, you may receive some corrective exercises and self physical therapy advice to take away and perform at home in between appointments, in order to aid repair and recovery. As massage therapy is a very hands on practice, I will always aim to ensure that you feel comfortable. As such, you may wish to wear or bring a pair of shorts and/or loose upper garments, so that I am able to work through them. Where skin contact is necessary, your privacy will be maintained with the use of towels. Please get in touch with me via the contact page if you would like to discuss an initial consultation. Providing that no contraindications to treatment are flagged up, your initial consultation is also likely to involve an assessment of your static and dynamic posture, a discussion about daily activities and how they might impact on you physically, a gait and movement analysis and a review of any other functional/lifestyle factors that might be causing your pain or discomfort. My aim is to get you moving pain-free again but also to educate you in how you are able to support yourself to prevent further pain and/or injury. Using a holistic approach in assessments and a range of treatment modalities that are deemed appropriate specifically for you, my aim is to help you to understand why your body is hurting as well as help you to move more freely. Each Sports Therapy treatment is individually unique according to client need, and are as appropriate for the elite athlete as for those with non-sport related postural pain and/or dysfunction. Some of the treatment modalities available include; myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, Trigger Point therapy via manual neuromuscular facilitation and Dry Needling techniques, injury rehab, deep tissue massage and if requested holistic and relaxing massage.
